The Bible teaches that God’s people are to fund God’s mission through the local church. As you give generously through your church, you make it possible for the church to proclaim the gospel to its community and to support missionaries throughout the world. As a member of the Southern Baptist Convention, your church helps support 3, 671 international missionaries and more than 5,000 missionaries in the US and its territories and in Canada.
In Matthew 6:19-21, Jesus says:
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (ESV)
If all we do is invest in this world, ultimately, we will lose it all. This world is not forever. But if we invest in God’s Kingdom through the local church, the souls that will be saved for eternity, will be our eternal reward. Live and give for eternity, not just what’s temporal.
