Connect Groups at Riverside

Most of our classes are tackling the same material but geared for different age groups.

For every Christian, a deep knowledge of the Word helps make the difference between a shallow faith and a life of trust and obedience. This kind of faith does not come from information but through the transformation when you "let God's Word dwell in you."

Explore the Bible helps participants understand the Bible passage within its larger biblical context. Every session leads to an application so that each person is moved towards being transformed into the likeness of Christ, being challenged to practice God's truth in everyday life.

Each month the book being studied changes.

Bible Studies for Life helps people know Christ, live in community, and impact the culture and world around them. This series offers balanced studies by topic, focuses on real-life issues that let people see how Jesus is the answer to their greatest need--how the Bible meets their life right where they are. Topics change on a monthly basis.

"Disciples Path: The Journey"

There's a disciple-maker inside every Christian.

When a baby is born, people immediately spring into action to clean, check, bathe, and warm the infant. All this is done in order to ensure that this new creation is well on his or her way to a life of growth, health, and maturity.

But when someone is born into Christ, we usually just congratulate them and send them into the world. As a result, churches are full of baby Christians who never fully developed spiritually, even if they were born decades earlier.

Disciple's Path: The Journey provides an intentional one-year mission toward maturity in Christ. It's a purposeful process covering four volumes, 13 sessions each. The Journey was created to nurture believers into disciples who make disciples.

Volume One will begin on Sunday, March 5th in room 210 and will be led by Eddie Torres.

"Explore the Bible..." Riverside Young Adults

"Explore the Bible: ..." Riverside Students" (6th-12th Graders)

"Explore the Bible: ..."

Room 204: Senior Adults:  This class is comprised of faithful members of Riverside. They are a well-structured class with a heart for ministering to youth and young adults through prayer and monetary assistance. They love to meet visitors and new members. If you are looking for a great class, come on in! Led by Cliff Huxford and Daniel Clapp.

Room 201/203 (ages 30-70+):  This large, well-organized and enthusiastic group is eager to meet new people and serve the Lord. Many class members are active in ministries within the church. The objective of the class is to grow in love for the Lord and understand Him better. Led by Rev. Robert and Becky Jakoby.

Room 208 (any age):  Diverse and multicultural adults focused on studying the Bible book by book. In-depth Bible study led by Raymond Awadzi.

"Bible Study for Life"

Room 205,  Married Couples: We are a class for couples learning to pray, fellowship, study and support each other in the ups and downs of life.  Led by Neil and Pat Eskolin.

"James"

Volunteer Room, Salt and Spice (Women, ages 30+): True faith produces fruit. A faith without action and without life change is ultimately a dead faith. The book of James speaks to the realities of a living faith in Jesus—the kind of roll-up-your-sleeves and get-your-hands-dirty discipleship that is borne out of an authentic relationship with the risen Lord. James writes to believers who know suffering, who've faced trials, and who ultimately desire a deep relationship with God. A video study by Francis Chang. Led by Maury Fernandez.

Experiencing God: Knowing and Doing the Will of God

This study is a 13-week study written by Henry Blackaby, Richard Blackaby, and Claude King and based on the Experiencing God book. Through an examination of biblical and contemporary illustrations, participants will understand and apply seven realities of experiencing God. This study will also help participants understand how to experience God as a church. The classes will be on Sundays at 6:00 PM in Room 214 beginning Sunday, March 5th. The cost of the book is $16.00 and paid at the first class. Bob and Allyson Owers will lead the class. To register for the class contact the church office before the class.

MasterLife

MasterLife is a discipleship study of four books (6 sessions each) that helps believers in Jesus to move toward spiritual maturity. It is appropriate for both new Christians and seasoned believers in Jesus Christ. In addition to gaining victory over areas of weakness, participants will be encouraged to master living in the Word, prayer, personal purity, witnessing, and other key disciplines of faith. The cost for the books is $10.00 each; due at the first class. Classes are offered throughout the year. Dates will be posted when a new class is available.

"Life on Mission"

Approximately 259 million people in the United States and Canada do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Life on Mission equips believers to live a missional lifestyle. A life lived on mission isn't a supersized version of an extraordinary Spirit-filled life. It isn't reserved only for top-level Christian risk takers who have mastered the art of obedience. Living a life on mission is the story of everyday, ordinary believers leveraging whatever levels of influence they have to bring unbelievers to faith in Christ.

This Bible study will not make you into an evangelist. However, it will invite you to connect with God's mission and equip you with tools to live a life that matters.

This five-week study will begin on Sunday, April 23rd, in room 206 and led by Johnny Oliver. There is a $9.00 charge for the workbook.

Sunday Afternoon (once per month) @ 12:45 PM

Kids at Heart

This group consists of all Children's ministry leaders. If you are leading a children's group, this is the connect group for you! This group meets monthly at 12:45 p.m. in Room 217, and will be studying "Bible Study for Life."

Mondays @ 7:00 PM

Men of Impact Men's Ministry

Our Men's Ministry (for men 18 and older) meets on Monday evenings at 7:00 PM at The Warehouse (our free standing building). The men meet for a time of related topic discussion or study, prayer, and fellowship. Our current study, which runs until March 13th, is "The Resolution for Men." Light refreshments are served.

Fridays

Women's Friday Morning Group

Meets every Friday @ 9:30 AM off campus. This group is presently studying Romans. The most important idea in the Bible is how a Holy God can get a sinful man into Heaven and not compromise who He is. Romans tell us just that! It sits as Master of the House before all of Paul's writings. It is the Bible in miniature. It is the most important singular document ever penned by man and only inspiration could make it so. In our study in Romans we will look at Paul's unfolding logic and incisive reasoning as to the divinity and holiness of the Christian gospel. When this book has been understood reformation and new life follow shortly. Romans is set at just the perfect pace for any Christian who wants to understand the most central book in the Bible.   This is a video study by Tommy Nelson. Contact the church office for the location.

Kingdom Marriage

This study is a 6-week video study with Pastor Tony Evans for married couples as we seek to learn God’s purpose and perspective for our marriages. Participants will be led through thought-provoking discussion and application activities as Tony Evans explains how kingdom couples bring light and life to their family and communities. Cost is $12 per couple, for books. The class will meet at Riverside Baptist Church in Room 201 on Friday nights at 7:00 p.m. starting April 21, 2017. To register, please see Bert or Lourdes Ponce in the Foyer on Sundays or e-mail them at hponce@bellsouth.net.
