Program Description
The Center provides a
variety of activities that are
age-appropriate. All classes will have a daily routine that will
include
times for activity and quiet, group and independent, as well as
indoor and
outdoor experiences. The following is a summary of what your
child
is taught at each age level.
Your two-year
old will experience a loving,
nurturing, non-academic day that focuses on his/her basic growth
and
development. A variety of activities are provided to help your
child
become more aware of the world God created, to help him/her
understand
that he/she is loved and to acclimate him/her to a classroom
setting.
Your three-year
old will continue to develop
socialization and language skills as he/she plays reading
readiness games
that teach classifying, sorting, discriminating and labeling
objects. We
use a variety of art materials to help develop your child's
creativity and
prepare him/her for writing.
Your four-year
old will expand the skills he/she
developed in the three-year old program. A greater emphasis will
be
placed on letter recognition/sounds through the use of the ACSI
curriculum. Children demonstrating a readiness for reading will be
encouraged to do so. Number recognition is taught through the
Harcourt
Brace curriculum.
Your Kindergartener
will be prepared for entrance
into first grade. The Super Kids reading program makes learning
to
read an exciting adventure. Most children will be reading simple
books within a few months. Your child will be guided in developing
writing
skills. We use Addison Wesley math books as the major component of
the
math curriculum and use a variety of hands-on manipulative tools for
reinforcement.
All children will
be allowed to play in learning centers
at various times throughout the day. These experiences provide
opportunities for problem solving, socialization, language,
development
and proper expression of emotions. Remember: Play is a child's
work.
We teach Biblical
ideas through weekly Bible stories,
Bible verses, and Chapel. Our emphasis on Bible teaching is
designed
to lay a solid foundation for further spiritual development.
